Bagpipes

Bagpipes are a musical instrument of Scottland recorded since around 4000 BC in Egypt, the origin is uncertain, but is believed to be the Middle East. Bagpipes were scattered across Europe during the Middle Ages and enjoyed during the 1600s and 1700s popularity even at the courts of Europe, (often in romantic contexts, the instrument also has been linked to herders and their practice.) Later on in Sweden, most survived in west Dalarna and northern Värmland, before finally dying out altogether in the early 1900s. With the guidance of the old instruments preserved from those areas do reconstructions of the Swedish bagpipes, posun or dråmban, performed by different luthiers and musicians. Today it is mainly in folk music that you can hear the bagpipes. Still associated bagpipe happy with Scotland and marching music. Various bagpipe types there are today in nearly all European countries, strong traditions are, for example, in Ireland, France, Spain, Bulgaria and Hungary.
